Carbon Reduction Plan
Carbon Reduction Plan
Supplier name: MetaOps Limited
Publication date: June 16, 2025
1. Commitment to achieving net zero
MetaOps Limited is committed to achieving net zero emissions by 2050.
2. Baseline emissions footprint
Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions.
Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.
Baseline year: 2024
Additional details relating to the baseline emissions calculations: This is MetaOps Limited's first comprehensive carbon footprint assessment. The baseline has been established using 2024 data covering our UK operations as a 3-person consulting and data engineering company. Emissions calculations are based on our office facilities, business travel, employee commuting, and IT infrastructure. Our emissions are primarily from office energy consumption, cloud computing services, business travel, and remote working arrangements.
Baseline year emissions:
Emissions | Total (tCO2e) |
---|---|
Scope 1: | 1.2 |
Scope 2: | 2.1 |
Scope 3 (included sources): | 4.8 |
Total emissions: | 8.1 |
Scope 1: Company vehicles and heating (natural gas) Scope 2: Purchased electricity for office operations Scope 3: Business travel, employee commuting, cloud services, and purchased goods/services
3. Current emissions reporting
Reporting year: 2024
Emissions | Total (tCO2e) |
---|---|
Scope 1: | 1.2 |
Scope 2: | 2.1 |
Scope 3 (included sources): | 4.8 |
Total emissions: | 8.1 |
4. Emissions reduction targets
In order to continue our progress to achieving net zero, we have adopted the following carbon reduction targets:
We project that carbon emissions will decrease over the next five years to 4.1 tCO2e by 2030. This is a reduction of 49%.
Our interim targets:
2027: 25% reduction (6.1 tCO2e)
2030: 49% reduction (4.1 tCO2e)
2040: 80% reduction (1.6 tCO2e)
2050: Net zero emissions
5. Carbon reduction projects
Completed carbon reduction initiatives
The following environmental management measures and projects have been completed or implemented since the 2024 baseline. The carbon emission reduction achieved by these schemes equate to 0.7 tCO2e, a 9% reduction against the 2024 baseline and the measures will be in effect when performing the contract.
Energy Efficiency:
Upgraded office lighting to LED systems with motion sensors
Implemented smart heating controls and improved insulation
Established energy monitoring and reporting systems
Digital Infrastructure:
Migrated majority of client projects to carbon-neutral cloud providers
Implemented server optimization and energy-efficient coding practices
Adopted green software development methodologies
Travel and Transport:
Established remote-first working policy reducing commuting significantly
Implemented digital-first client engagement reducing business travel
Introduced cycle-to-work scheme and public transport incentives
Operational Measures:
Implemented comprehensive recycling and waste reduction program
Established supplier sustainability assessment criteria
Developed environmental management procedures
Future carbon reduction initiatives
In the future we hope to implement further measures such as:
2025-2027:
Transition to 100% renewable energy contracts for all office locations
Implementation of Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) methodology
Carbon offsetting program for remaining unavoidable emissions
Green building certification for office spaces
2028-2030:
Electric vehicle fleet transition for company vehicles
Advanced carbon tracking and AI-powered optimization systems
Client carbon impact measurement and reporting services
Supply chain decarbonization program
2031-2050:
Investment in direct air capture technologies
Development of carbon-negative data processing capabilities
Industry leadership in sustainable software development practices
